Yes, I hold a core position in ITKH and a trading position, as I do and have done in many positions. I sell the trading position and use the profits to increase my core position.
I actually agree with you except in most I don't increase the core position. I buy or add to other penny positions. Each situation is different though as it the penny stock climate in the current market. In many other pennies, I hold a core or have free shares. Seems the only moves lately in penny land are when a picker, picks one. The old days of so many penny stocks scoring easy 5 to 10 baggers seem long gone. And so few hold their positions. My core positions are not as large as they used to be because most come back down. I haven't seem many run and keep going up and holding in a long time.
