I don't expect 20nm Snapdragon devices to show up until Q3/Q4 2014, given that the first 2% quarter will be 2Q 2014.

I expect Qualcomm to show off pre-production parts at MWC'14 (February), and we'll start seeing phones in Q2, followed by more devices en masse in Q3/Q4. I expect the part to be a shrink of Snapdragon 800, but with the goodness to come from lower power dissipation, driving quad core further into phones.

Intel needs to ramp Merrifield quickly, as it will be hard pressed to go against Qualcomm's quad core 20nm part. Although - if Intel prices it right, Merrifield would make a *damned* good mid-range part, given the power efficiency, and what I expect to be outstanding performance for a dual core.

I am somewhat aligned with your take that Intel's phone prospects may be as a "second supplier" or go the mid-range route, but in tablets the quad core Bay Trail should be the fastest and most power efficient product in the market able to ramp to high volume through most of 2014. And by late 2014, Intel's 14nm parts should be hitting the market, increasing their lead, and their MSS prospects in phones.
