The most telltale signs are to look very close at the stainless trim around the glass and look for either overspray or where the tape was applied over areas that should have been repainted.

Sometimes you can find signs of overspray on top of the undercoating, or around any chrome trim that could not be easily removed.

Also look for signs of overspray inside of the hood, trunk and doors.

I don't think anyone could repaint a car without me finding signs of it somewhere.
