WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- New home sales in the United States last month were weaker than expected at an annualized rate of 1.245 million.
The Commerce Department said Friday that last month's sales of new residences was 11.34 percent lower than October's 1.404 million. It also was beneath the 1.31 million economists had expected.
In November 2004 there were 1.175 new residences sold in the United States.
Houses stayed on the market in November for a median length of time of 4.1 months, the same as during October, the department said.
Houses under construction last month declined sharply from October's level.
