I agree. I do not see edig as a patent troll by strict definition. And Facst as we all know are funny things.
So here are some other facts.
Edig lead many to believe the patents covered multi billions in products.
The largest settlement to date is around $2 million dollars but the average settlement is way way less than that.
The first round of litigation attempts resulted in HUGE companies settling for an average of about 1.6 million.
Kinda sad when LG settled for 1.6 and we were told by management themselves they got the deal of the bunch and the longer the others hold out the more they will pay. And we all know that didn't work out as in fact one of the largest in the world Samsung only paid 1.2 million less than the company we were told got the deal. That's a FACT too.

Round 2 we were told they learned from mistakes and they were raising the bar. But what actually was the truth and facts. The settlement numbers went down. WAY DOWN to about an average of 350-450k . Way down from the 1.6 million even though we were told they were raising the bar on round 2.

So rounds 1 and 2 we saw settlements with huge companies in nuisance and even way less than nuisance value.

You have to wonder why didn't a single case get taken to trial. Especially samsung if there is such confidence in the patents and their value and validity.

Actions speak pretty loud. Now we appear on the same track as trials don't seem to be the real goal. Although we don't know the amounts yet for the new 7 settlements if these were good dollar settlements I seriously doubt we would be sitting or actually falling to .10 PPS wise.

So while I don't think edig is a true patent troll I don't think the facts support anything they have said about the value of the patents, they have made claims that didn't stand about round one andmround two, andmtheir actions of settling for what are certainly nuisance and less than nusiisnace settlements and not taking samsung gives many the idea this is only about nuisance settlements.

I hope they do go to trial in fact lets do it against apple. Let's find out for once and all. Let's.bury this company if it only about Fred getting his salary andmretirement built up or let's watch it finally flourish as we have been led to believe form the last 14 years.
