why teach a child something that will put them at a competitive disadvantage and make them vulnerable to manipulation?

Because we are trying to be normal and functional in an abnormal and dysfunctional world. We were meant to work together and our vulnerability was meant to be a way of identifying with each other and drawing closer to each other through emotional bonds. We were meant to love, not hate.
