Intel’s plans to enter the TV business are being resisted by entrenched TV industry interests, reports the New York Times.

Today’s newspaper says: “To Intel, the behaviour by the existing distributors — in some cases giving financial incentives to friendly channel owners, in other cases including punitive measures in contracts — has an anticompetitive whiff.”

My Goodness, this must come as an awful shock to Intel. To think that dominant players in an industry can try and lock out weaker ones by ‘financial incentives’ and ‘punitive measures in contracts’ must come as a massive surprise to the White Knight of Santa Clara.
