I really has nothing to do with this administration as this has been ongoing for a while. Heck in the mid-90's they did this in a smaller scale to obtain drug trafficking information. In the late 90's we were listening (and I mean listening) to all the cell phone calls in Europe and parts of the middle east from our base in Ireland. It was easy then as calls were analog. Now they are digital and you have to tap at the carrier level. IN the late 90's we had Cray computers that would pull out conversations with key words in them.

Our enemies are not as sophisticated and many are quite ignorant of our capabilities so exposing this to them can be harmful. I doubt any country would not be aware of our capabilities.

I'm just shocked at the overreaction by the public as the press certainly knew or should have known our capabilities.
