They raged against advertising on SI which we were totally given complete and total permission and the blessing from SI for 4 years. The advertising outrage had its roots in the same posters that were very happy advertising a $600 month shorting site, which is no longer taking that for reasons we all know. We have every email from Jeff, and before them the Dryer brothers, the webmistress, etc, giving us their support, blessings and many other words of praise, including that the site opitimised the original DREAM for SI by the brothers, yet now at this same time there is a LINK to a credit card site on A@P's thread header on SI and nothing is changed. SI is obviously hanging onto dear life and won't DARE alienate yet another 'oldie site'.. by invoking its terms of use laws.
SI will do everything to maintain what I guess could be their last big fish and if its uneven policies so be it. These disparities on the SI policy, plus allusions, collusions, dissolutions of their own pay sites (both the mentioned site and interestingly enough the SI site itself) isn't going to add to the 'credibility' of either SI or the few dirt mongers, who live on 'anticipation' of a coming fall, yet are themselves the only ones that actually and factually have fallen!
About the silver, gold etc. We have had this for 13 years and everyone is invited to do their thing. The financial world is chock full of wannabes and others. Many have tried, some succeed some fail, just like any other commercial enterprise. If I remember correctly, the other website saw fit to charge $600 a month, until certain problems we won't go into here put a stop to that service. Its pretty obvious the sour grapes on the top branch is the Aeosop's Fable that comes to mind. Those that could, do, those that can't .....well look at SI now and see what they do.
As far as advertising, the bigger sites don't need to advertise on boards or free, they will 'buy advertising' from the IHUB advertising staff, it really only for the start up companies to post links on headers to get recognition, and we are no longer a start up company so we have our advertising on print and other media which is paid for. SI was fun, it was a mutually advantageous relationship, we all enjoyed that megaphone that was SI for 4 years, but now that megaphone turned into a hearex hearing aid commercial, not much is heard any longer that is of interest to the trading community. There are 3 threads that are still pretty good but hopefully, since I did notice some of the attacks have moved there, they will come to IHUB. Those few souls will have their work cut out to bring back the original 'boom box' that once was SI. IHUB will have it, Silicon Investor had it but lost it. It happens to the best of us.
Posts deleted? What posts. When one dubious poster posts 6 posts in a row, his obvious intention is to harass, it is obvious that these posts might NOT be made with the most honest of motives. When these posters find their nest on one particular site on SI, they are not taken seriously which is why they need to post 6 or 8 times in a row. When someone comes onto SI thread one evening and posts 43 posts!! (yes 43 of attack, harassment with NO provocation at all) and goes into an outrage because no one even responds you have to see what minds are at work. Why post 4 or 5 or 6 or 43? Has any legitimate poster ever posted more than 1 post? The word depravation comes to mind. IHUB will succeed because it has finally found a simple way to keep away those who don't just disagree or post counter opinions, but those poor souls whose ONLY focus is riding threads to propagate hostility, attacks that go nowhere, posts that are devoid of any content, focus or advantageous information for the trader.
A good site doesn't get its name and reputation from anything except content, interest and productivity. No one is interested in how much money you made, or how many attacking posts you can make in 5 minutes, the bottom line is that they are interested in WHAT'S IN IT FOR THEM. Its as simple as that, if there is no PROFIT they can get from the thread, it is doomed... and if the poster doesn't have a day job, he/she is doomed also.
