The receipt of the patents will NOT be recognized on the income statement.

The patent is an intangible asset - it would be assigned a value (the amount paid for it) on the balance sheet.

If and when those patents are licensed and result in monies coming in (or if someone is found in infringement of them and made to pay), THEN the dollars coming in would go on an income statement.


If I could afford to buy all of them, I would not need to buy any of them and I sure wouldn't be spending time on the message boards!
