that's probably because they see the policy and not the person, true of liberals and conservatives, so they don't discriminate between a good case and not so good case, plus the Nobel nominations gave it added appeal. I'm against the death penalty in general, just because it doesn't serve any purpose, and I don't think a state should be killing people without purpose.
