While they are still doing R&D (improvements and more patents), they have two recently issued international patents on the core IP (no longer just applied for and pending, but issued and enforceable) they are finalizing the construction plans, NORAM (Google them) is the engineering design and build contractor they have hired, for a full sized pilot plant (about $1.5 million dollar pilot plant), that will be operated at their multi billion dollar JV partners Cement plant in Canada, Lafarge, an international public French firm with billions in sales and market cap. Cement plants are the second largest source of CO2 in the world, following coal fired power plants.

They are well passed the R&D only phase. I am a chemical engineer with my own patents, and I have dug deep into this one. It is the real McCoy. The current prices of power, capital costs and market price of Formic Acid suggest a minimum 20% RTO profit on the current patent issued design!!! They have already announced major improvements on that design (better electrodes) from recent R&D (so expect more patents and possible trade secret values) and thus the 20% RTO is now understated, and very conservative.

The core patented technology is an electro-organic-chemical reactor that coverts CO2 into formic acid, and or formate salts that can be sold into existing markets at a profit. Currently Formic acid is a billion dollar market. The second IP is a new generation of fuel cell that can run on formic acid!!!! Thus a New market for formic acid.


Coupled together the combo can capture CO2 using solar power, and then convert the stored formic acid fuel into electricity via the fuel cell to feed the grid power at night, or when the wind dies down. This would create a flow through battery-fuel cell product similar to ZBB's Zinc Bromide flow through cell batteries, but have the added advantage of consuming CO2!!!!

Hybrid transportation vehicles, based on formic acid are possible down the road......
