100% agreement.
Seems simple to allow it to happen. It would consist of dropping the conservatorship and they would continue to operate and with higher performance and efficiences. Nothing too significant to change with Fannie and Freddie. The stock prices would reach previous levels. All will be well.
The process of entering the conservatorship is reveresed in as speedy a way as it was enforced.
Now why can't that be done?
