Re: My guess is that the 2GHz Yonah sample was up around 40W under load, and the 2.16GHz sku might be delayed from Jan, or "launched" but not available.

Your "guess" sounds like it's based off the 'Droidian cardinal rule that all Intel launches will be late and underperforming to expectations. Thanks, but I'll take your guesses as contrarian indicators, as that is likely to have the higher accuracy rate.

Re: System power differences EXCEED CPU power differences because of inefficiencies in conversion, particularly in the power supply. So it is that the differences between the X2 3800+ 89W TDP part under load and Yonah under load are LESS than 36W.

Very well. I'll accept the power supply argument as shrinking the delta, but you'll have to accept the chipset argument as widening the delta.

Re: Ouch.

Yeah, ouch for AMD. They are going to have to shrink the power dissipation of their X2 parts quite a bit to get them into a mobile enclosure, and that's based off their lowest power 2.0GHz sku today. Maybe if they go to 1.8GHz and lower the voltage, then run a few process tricks, then they can get into Yonah's power range. (Don't expect it to be high volume though).

Re: (I think you should go for a "this is just a sample-- they'll improve it for release" argument at this point.)

Yet another good point. Thanks.
