WBMW you say that the document does not say the Opteron will dissipate this power (the shown TDP) if the core temperature reaches that high.
However the documents clearly state that the thermal profile is used to define the relationship between TCase max and specific TDP. It also states in the notes that TDP is measured under conditions of TCase max and VID = VID_VDD and include ALL power disspiated on die from VDD, VDDIO, VLDT, VTT and VDDA.
Remember Tcase max is programmed into the cpu at time of testing and as such determines the TDP.
So please explain to me where I am wrong in thinking the documents shows the applicable TDP based on the variable TCase max for a given thermal profile?
