i agree with your view on what is probably happening. You got a little poetic at the end, but i could follow it.

i think that is absolutely correct... remember how long caller ID was available to authorities before it became ubiquitous? and the movies winked and nodded with their "keep them on the line so that we can trace them, it takes a while".... to make the bad guys think they could make contact if they kept it short. The key being that they would make contact. Anyway, our high tech will probably solve this crime, when it comes to image work, no one in the world can match us. not even close.
