Re: After all these vaunted improvements it's still worse than a P-D in so many benches and it hasn't improved on its strengths. I agree with CD, underwhelming !

Are we talking about the same review here, or are you wearing the same AMD-green colored glasses as CD?

Yonah bin-1 loses to Smithfield bin-1 in only 5/22 tests, keeping in mind that the Athlon X2 3800+ also loses to Smithfield in 2 of these tests. That's hardly "so many benches", and the ones where it outperforms, it does so by significant margins.

Yonah is 13% faster than Smithfield in Business Winstone, 9% faster in Communication SysMark, and 12% faster in Content Creation SysMark. It's 8% faster in CC Winstone, 14% faster in 3D CC SysMark, and 10% faster in 2D CC SysMark. It loses out in media encoder apps, which is probably its biggest weakness, though this can probably be attributed to what's still a slower 667MT/s FSB. In games, Yonah is 14% faster in Doom3, 12% faster in Battlefield 2, and 15% faster in Unreal Tournament. And in rendering, it's up to 20% faster than Smithfield, and at worst, 3% slower. Even in multitasking it wins by as much as 17%, and at the very least wins by 2%.

So for you to say that it loses "in so many benches" to Smithfield, you'd have to believe your own FUD.
