it is not that much of a long shot when you look at it. republicans are all about a smaller govt and state rights. allowing the fed to to go in and mess with state laws is totally against their stance. democrats are pretty much in favor of legalization and a majority of them are from states that have legalized mmj or are thinking of legalizing. plus they are backing the whole gay marriage thing. plus the new pew poll allows them to say that the majority of americans back legalization. this is inevitable in my opinion. the whole facade of the democratic system is at stake if the majority of americans are in favor of something and their representatives ignore them. plus, the nature of these polling companies makes them highly manipulable. the higher ups want legalization to happen.
