THE POLICE: 97% say that a so-called assault weapons ban would have no effect on crime

Policeone is a website with a membership of over 400,000 active and retired police officers. The site ran a poll between March 3rd through the 14th and only counted verified members of law enforcement. The results are startling. Fully 97% say that a so-called assault weapons ban would have no effect on crime and 26% of those say it would make the streets less safe. 96% say that a magazine ban would be useless as well. As far as expanded background checks,80% say its effect on crime would be meaningless, while 8% were unsure.
