I'll wade into this debate as I'm looking for one for my kids...

a 13 year old and a 6 year old..

1) My 14 year old nephew got the iPod last year... this year he wants the new iPod.. he complains the 'old' takes to long to charge... I think it's a crock... (his rationale) but they have lots of dough..

2) I need a new cell phone for my daughter as she forgot her's in the back yard.. where it stayed for a week with quite a few rain days.. she thought she my wife lost it at the movies.. but that's an internal squabble... :o) so I'm reticent to spend on the MP3 player in a high price range for obvious reasons... the phone is a necessity for safety reasons... the MP3 player is a luxury...
