Interesting recent highlights relating to the Utica play:

Ohio has cleared the 200 mark in the number of wells drilled in the Utica shale play, but activity there still has a long way to go to match what has been happening in nearby Pennsylvania.

I came to that conclusion when I checked out the numbers in some new drilling reports issued by the respective states.

One shows the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has issued 493 drilling permits in the Utica shale play in the past two years.

Out of those, 205 wells have been drilled and 47 are producing oil and/or natural gas.
