The Fair Tax proposal in the House of Representatives is a national sales tax...Also known as a value-added tax...

Desert Drifter is correct when he says it hits the poor harder...

In order to address that issue, A Monthly Check known as a prebate is also in the bill...It estimates what ones tax will be under certain income levels, and sends a check to cover the estimated tax to the taxpayer...
