As you might guess, the person used a fairly anonymous email address. If I had the time in my life to chase this person down it would be reasonably easy. My Chief Technology Officer was recently documented in the newspaper in his home town for uncovering a series of emails sent to harass his wife (who was running for political office). He traced the culprit (opposition party member) to an internet café and exposed him in the newspaper. If I though Val or MDGC meant that much in the scope of real world reality, I'd hunt down the sender of the emails to see if my hunch is correct.

As it is, I will let sleeping dawgs (too slow to be called dogs) lie and turn over what I have to the authorities. I doubt anything will come of it though as this scam is simply to small to be on the radar of anyone other than those who have been scammed and a handful of concerned citizens...
