an interesting question. sodium pumps do alter cellular na and potassium fluxes. but for nerves at least, they merely alter potential differences/ conductivity gating without really changing concentrations.

but the pumps in your kidney surely do, and the myriads of na k pumps identified by cloning, especailly in brain, i dont know what they do.

but what does this have to do with aids?

you know full well that if you are injected with the blood of an HIV positive person, and the hiv titer is greater than a million viruses per ml, you will come down with the disease
