This isn't going to be controversial for Tiger. At the end of the day, all people really care about is his golf (and his formerly juicy personal life I suppose). If Fuse ends up being a flop and the "technology" isn't really what they say it is nobody is going to care. He can drop Fuse tomorrow and it will maybe make a sentence or two in a few publications, it's not like he'll be accused of having tried to sell a scam.

As for why he is involved, I personally don't think he was sold on the "technology". I suppose it was purely a business deal where he was given some cash or a boatload of shares. The bag logo isn't all that lucrative for golfers anyway, especially if it isn't supplemented by obligations to appear in commercials, etc. It really doesn't get much visibility other than people at the tournaments and I can tell you all those endorsement dollars are driven by TV exposure. He may personally know one of the founders and is doing it as a favor as much as anything, I don't know.

Basically, in the grand scheme of things, it is a pretty irrelevant endorsement as far as Tiger is concerned. As I said, he's not risking anything. Money nor reputation. I bet he doesn't spend 10 seconds a day thinking about Fuse Science.
