Rand Paul: One person can make a difference

Yesterday, one U.S. Senator (Rand Paul) helped change the national conversation regarding Constitutional rights. But without the support of millions of individual citizens who share Rand's concerns, his filibuster would've received little attention. Domestic enemies of the Constitution and Bill of Rights want individual citizens to feel powerless so they'll give up without a fight.
So it's important to remember, if not for all the individuals who believe our unalienable rights are worth fighting and dying for, the pieces of paper that secure those rights would've been destroyed long ago. So if you believe in limited Constitutional government of, by, and for the people, give yourself a pat on the back because you make the Constitution and Bill of Rights possible.

The Bible, American history, and world history, provide many examples of individuals who were lone voices crying in the wilderness. And against all odds, they took a stand on principle that ultimately changed the world for the better. So the only way tyrants can win, is if individuals don't use their God given power to be a force for good in the world. That power starts with an inner conviction to take a stand for what is right, and never give up.

The next step is doing what Thomas Paine did with "Common Sense", i.e., sharing the truth with others in an attempt to light fires in the minds of men. This can seem hopeless in today's society where so many are fast asleep, but remember, we're planting seeds in the minds of people that may bear fruit sometime in the future. Ron Paul is a good example; his individual efforts have awakened more citizens to the merits of limited Constitutional government than any politician in my lifetime.


The founders ended the Declaration of Independence with these words: "And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor." The founders understood the price of freedom, which is total commitment with no guarantee of success. We teach athletes to compete even if the game appears lost, and unalienable rights are far more important than a game so keep fighting for your rights.
