Furthermore the same analysts who keep declaring that foundry esp Apple foundry brings exciting possibilities will bemoan the gross margin hit that would no doubt come with it.

Not referring to Apple, I don't see Intel's possible foundry deals as a hit to margins. Intel has said they want to get paid for their technology when doing foundry work for outside customers. That says to me they want their customary margins or else no deal.
