Jacki Mama Update:
Part 1.
Noontime.
The Surgeon just called. Jacki did Great. It took almost 2 hrs. The Surgeon stated the Tumor was very localized, and was beginning to surround her Horizontal ear canal, but had not invaded the inside of the ear canal, which was the concern that it may have entered the ear canal, and thus spread towards the bone covering the Brain, but that was not the case... {:>)))
The Surgeon also stated that the Lymph Nodes in that area of the ear/neck were so small, he actually could not identify them. Meaning, if the Cancer has spread to the the Lymph Nodes, they would be swollen, and would most likely in time, could cause Lung or Liver Cancer...
Now to wait on the Biopsy of the removed tissue. The Surgeon took out a large circumference surrounding the Tumor and removed inner ear canal also, to avoid leaving any Cancer cells, and feels quite confident that the Biopsy results will be in Jacki's favor... {:>)))
I will be picking up Jacki sometime tomorrow afternoon.... {:>)))
Part 2
5 PM
The Surgeon just called. Jacki is doing extremely well.
The problem is she is quite agitated. He said she appears to have a huge tolerance for pain, as she does not pull away from him as he lifts her ear up to check on it. The Doctor does not really want to giver her more sedation than what she already has received, however he wants Jacki to rest. He said Jacki tolerance for Sedation is Huge, and again, he does not want to over do it, to force her to rest.
Jacki has been biting at the kennel's wire fencing.
Bottom line is Jacki want's out of there. The Doctor asked me if I would be comfortable with bringing her home.
I told him earlier today, that Jacki was not going to be happy there overnight. The Doctor said is very rare that he would suggest a dog to come home the same day after a procedure like this, however he wants Jacki to calm down and rest without going to the means of oversedation.
I told the Doctor, this is why we have not been on a Vacation in 4+ years, because none of our dog's would be able to stay in a kennel. They would all have an absolute Mental Breakdown...
So we are going to leave in about 1 hr to go pick her up and bring her home, right where she wants to be.... {:>))
Part 3
8 PM
Jacki's home....{:>))
The Vet tech that gave us discharge instructions, and who had been working with Jacki today, said they she just would not lay down and relax. She said normally all dogs after a surgery just want to sleep, but since Jacki was not at her own home, Jacki was not about to relax. Jacki was quite happy to see Orin and I , that little stubby tail started wagging right away...
About 5 min's after Jacki got into the truck, she fell asleep. When we got home I let her outside, then fed all the dogs. I gave Jacki just half of her normal amount for this evening, and an extra pain pill. Jacki then walked all around the home for a bit, and then got on a couch.
There are No stitches that need to be removed, The Surgeon did all the stitching right under the fur, then used skin glue to finish the remaining small open area. Jacki ear looks Great. Jacki will be wearing the E Collar for 10-14 days. With her first ear surgery on Feb 5th, Jacki did no scratching at the site. Tonight she started scratching at the E Collar quite a few times, so I gave Jacki a little sedation, and I might for the next few days.
I am so Glad this Roller Coast Ride has come to and END , and Jacki will start feeling much better as the day's progress.
Thank You everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers... {:>))
