Using your opinion does not match the time line-

If - IF a shareHolder knew it was a bad deal before shareHolders knew there was a deal -
Then the deal would have NEVER been announced - But it was announced!!!!!!!!!

And after it was announced news released and investigated/ researched - it was cancelled - FACT!!!!!!!
