Some of Dell' s biggest competitors ,Sony, Lenovo, IBM, MSI, Apple, Toshiba, Acer etc. are making a lot of progress in the field. Comparatively they are not (IMO)
I think them going private is part of their strategy of expanding their software and services offerings for large companies, with the goal of becoming a full service provider, a la IBM. Over the past few years as personal computer ( Dell's forte) prices have started to tumble and customers moved to tablets and smartphones, caused a blow to Dell's business. I don't thing that WAMU had anything to do with it..
