Excluding the fact that people don't trust Elan's management it doesn't seem like that bad a deal for them they still get a descent royalty. I don't follow Elan real closely but considering the cash they'll get from this deal and selling the ALKS stake and what Yahoo shows their Enterprise value is pretty low right now (not that I am considering buying them
