I'd use whether there was some discussion of buyout in some key news media as indicator. For example, if GSK-HGSI tie-up happened when Benlysta succeeded in ph3 to a couple of quarters after approval, then there was widespread discussion of buyout. But it didn't happen then, it happened when few expected a deal.
