OT- WLD re: Kosovo and my reply to GM
>"part of a remarkably effective peacekeeping mission in [Kosovo] a previously explosive part of the world."
Is that supposed to be a joke?
No, it wasn't. It's true. It was previously explosive, and may still be, but at present the previous horrendous violence has largely ended. I happen to believe it is due to the presence of an adequate number of UN peacekeepers- obviously your opinion may vary. I would be happy to provide some backup to this assertion if you would like, but that's not my point in this particular post.
Listen, I'm sure that, having lost a relative in the violence over there, and apparently at the hands of the NATO bombing campaign, that this kind of on-line political banter is painful for you, and for that I apologize.
In my defense (and in response to other posters who took me to task for replying to some of gonzaga man's posts), may I point out that I responded to at least four very political posts by GM with a single reply, and only to those elements of his posts which seemed too awful to let pass- the most egregious of which was that the NATO bombing campaign was "wussy".
I trust you don't find it so. I don't either.
If some folks see a rigid political ideology in that response, that's their right I guess- it just seems to me that there's a lot of talking-points bullsh*t posting that too often goes unchallenged, and from time to time, I think it deserves a reply.
