The state of Florida provides an identification card should a person need one. A Florida drivers license is not issued for identification purposes but to certify that an individual has met the requirements necessary to drive. This woman clearly met those requirements, but according to this article was denied the license because she refused to be photographed without her veil.
The religious freedoms we enjoy in the United States are precisely why this woman should not have been denied a license. Muslim women wear this veil in following their religious beliefs according to the laws of the Qur'an. Should every gentlemen's mustache or beard be shaven so we can know for certain "who he is" ?
All religions have a distinctive quality, and the distinctive quality of Islam is modesty. Thank God we live in a place where we have the freedom to worship who or what we want and for the most part we have respect for all persons religious beliefs.
The article concludes with telling people they have the freedom to leave. I suggest a better ending would be to pray for tolerance and strength in this very uncertain time.
