Generalizing is not helpful (all lefties are... or righty are...). There are a number on issues on which I am "lefty" myself (like believing that a war on Iraq is the wrong approach, or my stance on abortion), and a number of issues on which I am "righty" (like reduction in overall taxation, though I am lefty in being a proponent of "progressive" taxation rather than flat taxation, belief in a strong military and the responsibility we have to selectively use our dominance).
Why don't we open a new issue, should we support splitting countries according to their ethnic makeup (Iraq into Kurdistan, Shiite and Suni, Sudan into Muslim north and Christian/animist south, Yougoslavia into its part, the Soviet Union into its parts etc.), a West Bank Palestine and a Trans-Jordan Palestine etc.
Personally, I think such splitting just bring more instability in the world and amplifies differences between various streams of humanity, put a great administrative financial burden on smaller countries (duplication in government functions) and a source of future destabilization due to inter stream strifes and disputes.
There are going to be situations where such spliting is necessary and others where unification through federations (as Europe is moving toward).
The question is now open for debate.
