White House May Name Greenspan Successor Today, People Say

Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) -- The White House may name a successor to Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan as soon as today, according to a person with close connections to the White House and hedge fund adviser Richard Medley.

The person, who has spoken to the White House, said the choice is expected to Ben Bernanke, former Fed governor and chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. That could not be confirmed, although Bernanke is in Washington today.

Spokesmen for the White House and the CEA declined to comment. Bush is holding a meeting of his Cabinet this morning.

Medley, chairman of Medley Global Advisors, told his clients about an imminent announcement.
