Since we all have a horse in this income tax race, none of us can be objectiove about what is "fair".
And none of this really has anything to do with what is going on today because the economy needs a shot in the arm and the only ones who can afford it are the 1%. They can handle the marginal increase (quite small) without missing a beat, other than possibly cutting back on the size of their new yacht (violin music here).
