I hope for a full review soon.
I was using a Merom 13.3 inch laptop last night and needed to do
Windows Updates and malware scans on it because I haven't used it
since last spring. The malware scans had run for two hours and they
were nowhere near being finished. I looked at the files being scanned
and most of them were Windows Update files. There aren't a lot of
files or applications on this system so I expected the scans to run a
lot faster. It does have a 5400 RPM disk so that could contribute to
the problem but one thing that annoys me is that Windows Updates don't
seem to clean up after themselves making malware scans longer and
longer over time.
Two things that you can't get away from with Windows devices are
malware scans and Windows Updates and those are one of the nuisance
factors of Windows devices - if you have a slow disk or a slow
processor those mainteance items can be really annoying.
I wouldn't mind an Atom-based 7-inch tablet for watching some things
that aren't available on Android and iOS but it would have to be a
cheap and light device.
