fuagf -- yup -- we've contributed a tidy sum over the decades since Camp David to bolster Egypt's resolve to stick to the deal, and at least arguably it's been well worth it -- and when Mubarak was in the process of being thrown out of office, there were multiple reports that in particular our military were using their direct channels to/relationships with high-ups in the Egyptian military to help confirm/secure the Egyptian military's cooperation in not going into Assad/Syria mode with Mubarak's opposition
