Antarctic Glacier Primed to Form Iceberg For the last year, the Pine Island Glacier in western Antarctica has been seemingly poised to calve off a giant iceberg, or icebergs, that in total would represent an area the size of New York City. The Pine Island Glacier huge crack has been flown over once again by the NASA's Operation IceBridge. New measurements shows a widening and lengthening of the original and the formation of a second fracture. The data shows it prime to calve.
