Variance and market conditions bailed you out. In other words plenty of luck to add to your bearish theory. You simply cannot rely on charting or fundamental analysis alone but the best way to predict a stock move is to know the fundamentals and use that to gauge where the chart will turn on various support levels. Bet accordingly to how strong your confidence is in the trend
