Almost two years ago we saw some interesting changes take place to the OTCBB traded stocks. Due to all sorts of fraud and misuses, the NASD and the SEC made it a requirement for any company trading on the OTCBB to be a fully-reporting company. This has theoretically helped to clean-up the OTCBB as the only companies remaining on that exchange, have financials for all of us to see on EDGAR, which can be accessed at http://www.wallstreetwest.com/Quotes.html
With the grandfathered rule, thousands of companies were essentially de-listed from the OTCBB and now trade on Pink Sheets, LLC’s exchange. The Pink Sheets have been around for years and got their name back in the days when the National Quotation Bureau published a circular, on pink paper, of thousands of over-the-counter stocks. The Pink Sheets have been extremely slow to help themselves grow though. While the OTCBB quotes can be found virtually anywhere on the Internet, the Pink Sheets quotes require a hunt all over the web. Some sites quote only the last trade price. Others have N/A for Pink Sheet traded stocks. Recently, the Pink Sheets allowed users to receive delayed prices for no cost at their home page, while still charging a hefty monthly fee to see all of the detailed information in real-time.
We recently received an email from MyTrack stating they are now offering Pink Sheet Level I and Level II pricing through their data feed service. The price will cost $ 5.00/month for last price and best bid/ask and $ 15.00 per month for Level II including the market maker lineup and their prices. While this is still fairly expensive, as it is above and beyond the service’s normal data prices, it may show the future of the Pink Sheets. WSW believes the day will come when the Pink Sheet traded companies can be quoted throughout the Web, further graying the area between an OTCBB and Pink Sheet traded company.
