I view the Democrats as a fake opposition party for the most part. The DLC types who control the party basically agree with Bush on almost every major issue. Any differences are minor and strictly tactical.

We should not forget that Bill Clinton probably was the most reactionary Democrat President of the 20th century and paved the way for much of what Bush is doing. This includes signing the so called "Iraq Liberation Act "of 1998 which made it official US policy to overthrow the Iraq government by any means necessary including genocidal sanctions. His wife Hillary seems almost as enthusiastic about the war as Bush himself
