Samsung and Apple are the most vertical. Samsung does chips and devices but relies on Google for their OS and others for apps. Apple relies on Samsung for CPUs and other companies for chips and hardware but does OS and Apps themselves and has the best ecosystem for third-party developement of apps.

If Apple could get Mac OS X running on a phone that I could hook up to multiple displays, a keyboard and mouse, then I wouldn't need my MacBook Pro. Of course such a device would be running an Intel processor. I don't expect such a product within the next five years though.

At the moment, the only product that I would consider for replacing my MacBook Pro is the Retina MacBook Pro. Nothing else out there gives me 1920x1200 in a small form-factor.
