Zeev- Interesting model (possible no war)
On another thread, someone noted that defense did well in months before Gulf War, then faded right before outbreak. Maybe that explains it?
I think its hard to believe- given what we know- that the plan for GB et al was to "not fight a war". Thus, we are talking about a change of heart (based on circumstance, cost, etc.). Again, I see it a hard case to make. If anything, the one "dovish" voice on this Powell...has become (IMO) as hawkish as the last man. I think for your scenario to come to light, Bush needs to have a big change of heart, for I believe what he has reiterate (ad naseum) last months. After all, it is his call- although I don't see any of his advisors (proposing this), and GB is certainly one to rely on advisers
