Four Super Tucano aircraft landed safely at Halim Perdanakusuma airport, Jakarta, Saturday (1/9). Four aircraft are part of 16 similar aircraft of the Air Force purchased the aircraft manufacturer Empresa Braziliera de Aeronautica (Embraer) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2010. Embraer is the world's third largest aircraft manufacturer, after Boeing (United States) and Airbus (France).

Four aircraft EMB-314 Super Tucano landed at approximately 11:00 pm after traveling for 55 hours from Brazil. The four aircraft were flown by eight pilots from Brazil Samba's country of origin.

Furthermore, 16 aircraft Super Tucano which is one squadron will be stationed at Squadron 21 Lanud Rachman Saleh Airport in Malang, East Java. The presence of Super Tucano will replace the role of the OV-10 Bronco stated grounded or no longer operated by the TNI Headquarters AUI in 2009 ago after a number of accidents.

Single engine propeller aircraft has the ability and low song fits in guerrilla warfare. EMB-314 was capable of firing smoke ashore quickly to indicate the position of the enemy that can be forwarded to the mission of annihilation by the other fighter.

Another advantage, the Super Tucano can be used as an advanced trainer aircraft as well as the transition to the last generation jet fighter aircraft. Running costs - such as Bronco - too cheap. Another one is the EMB-314 turboprop aircraft Attack Light is ideal for mission COIN (counter insurgency) with high precision and can be operated at night. Each airplane equipped with two machine guns and five hard COIN in the wings. The aircraft can carry missiles and bombs weighing 1.5 tons.

EMB-314 Super Tucano turboprop engine powered by origin Prat & Whitney Canada PT6A-68A power 969 kW. This machine has been equipped with a monitoring system and automatic control. Estimated delivery of 16 Super Tucano aircraft purchased the Air Force will be completed until January 2013.

Associated with the arrival of Super Tucano's, Lanud Rachman Saleh has sent 12 former pilots OV-10 Bronco to Embraer, for training. Abdul Rachman Saleh Lanud were already preparing a new shelter and is currently in the stage of completion of the space simulator Squadron 21.

Super Tucano selected from five different Air Force aircraft demand. Four other aircraft types are; Korean Observation-1 (KO-1) made in Korea Aerospace Industries (South Korea), K-8 Karakorum made with China and Pakistan, T-6 Texan II B (United States), and the Pilatus PC-9 (Switzerland). Super Tucano more desirable because performance is very good and the ability equivalent to Bronco
