Have no fear, the Israel/palestinian problem is not going to go away. If I am correct, it is likely to get worse not better, because the palestinians supported by the rest of the arabs in the region, do not want peace in any form with Israel. The only thing that will satisfy them is the elimination of the Jewish state.
No, Israel and the palestinians will remain a major problem on our plate. Expanding the thought a bit, I personally think the arabs (especially the fundamentalists, which includes most of them) feel much the same way about the US as they do Israel - the only difference is that Israel is Jewish and in their own backyard.
