i have some sad news that you all may not care about, but here goes..
bryan and i, as you may know, (from my profile or just knowing me for years here on ihub) live in fredericksburg va.
time to time, we see a certain tall, full sized pick-up truck with tall dual pipes off the bed, just behind the cab. its meant to look and sound like an 18 wheeler we think... so, we giggle when we see it.
we see it often at our local walmart just down the road, with a young man driving it.
well, yesterday, near that walmart on that main road, i got my oil changed and had just gone through that intersection to get to the place. I heard a ton of sirens going northbound, while i waited for my oil change. when i went back home, the northbound lanes were all backed up.
they had shut down the lanes going s/b and merged s/b traffic into the extra n/b lane.
i called and warned bryan (coming home from work) that n/b was slow for this accident. i assumed it was worse than bad.
today we noticed the painted markings by police (we both know, from working fatal accidents in the past, that this is bad) he said it was the truck we see with the dual pipes. i had not noticed the pipes, but recall the similar color (i try not to rubber neck)
today's paper said it was the driver of that truck who died. the other person was n/b and speeding. he crossed the median and hit this truck. unknown why at this point but there is a grassy median so it takes a lot to do that. im assuming maybe medical? maybe they will say later...
i recall seeing the impact to this truck as if a train had hit it. whatever hit it must have been flying. you dont crumple such a big/high up truck like that with a little car. i didnt see what hit it but per the paper, it was some sort of other truck, per the report.
you never know when your time is up. sigh.
