Medivir plans all-oral phase-2a trial of TMC435+TMC647055 (a non-nuke) in genotype-1 HCV
Good to hear as JNJ/Medivir could control their own destiny with such a combo if successful, but I don't like that they see the need to employ low-dose ritonavir to the regimen. Not sure how competitive this would be to other potential competing combos down the road, if successful.
I assume use of low-dose ritonavir is because they are utilizing a non-nuke in the combo, which most have believed is a less-than-ideal counterpart compared to a nuke or NS5A.
I'm more anxious to see the ultimate combo data from the simeprevir+GS-7977 and simeprevir+daclatasvir combos. Speaking of the simeprevir+GS-7977 combo, that trial has been ongoing for some time now I believe, so I would think if there were any major safety issues from the combo, we would have heard about them by now. Comments anyone?
