Thanks, that is very informative post. However, it left me with a desire to point out something out that stickler to me. We are not, and we were never intended to be a democracy. While we have some elements of democracy in our government, we are not a democracy; every time George Bush called us a democracy I wanted to bitch slap him. Again this prove that our problems are not Democrat and Republican, but THEM against US.
Our forefathers rich in history, intelligence and they used much common sense when they set out to design and build something better than ever built before. Our forefathers created a Constitutional Republic in order to stop mob rule or a monarchy. They knew all to well he dangers of a democracy:
"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where 51% of the people may take away the rights of the other 49%." ~ Thomas Jefferson
As our forefathers left the building after signing the Constitution a woman came up to Benjamin Franklin and what we had, he replied:
"It's a REPUBLIC, ma'am - If you can keep it." ~ Ben Franklin, after signing the U.S. Constitution.
Even our enemies knew the difference:
"Democracy is the road to socialism." ~ Karl Marx, the father of communism
We The People have been brain washed and conditioned after many years of hearing and being taught about our democracy, and this was by design. However, that’s another topic for another day, but it started in the 50’s with our education system. The confusion left behind is a huge problem, for most of us do not know or have forgotten that we are Constitutional Republic. To get back to this, we have to erase some of the basics that have been removed and what has been implanted from 1913 and forward.
The first step is to remove the 17th amendment. The Constitution of 1788 created the Senate as an assembly where each state would have equal representation. Each state legislature would elect two senators to 6-year terms. When we changed this and made it a public vote we lost the Representation of the word and system of Republic. Our forefathers were a gathering a gifted, intelligent people with worldly knowledge and rich in world history. These men had a great mindset and agenda, they set out to build the best system of true freedom ever established in the world, and that was not a democracy.
Our founding fathers set up a Republic - Not a Democracy. The proof of his is apparent in the very words of the Constitution of the United States of America and the Declaration of Independence, for neither mentioned the word democracy. This is true even in the constitutions of all of our fifty states.
Sorry for rambling on, but as I said, this is a huge stickler for me and I felt a strong desire to point this out to any who might misunderstand what America is/was supposed to be.
